TENSION vs. COMPRESSION
While compression-based systems rely on multiple components downstream from the impact head, tension-based technology relies solely on components contained on the head and makes impact resistance instantly available at the impact head. With the X-Tension™ system, as the head is pushed down the cable assemblies, the cables are pulled through a cable friction plate in a twisting path, which dissipates the energy.
LENGTH OF NEED AT POST 1
Not only is there less component interaction with a tension-based system, the length of need begins immediately at Post 1 rather than at Post 3. This makes the X-Tension™ system ideal for sites where space is limited - the entire length of the terminal has full re-directive capabilities.
MEETS ALL FEDERAL GUIDELINES
The X-Tension™ meets all Federal criteria (FHWA and NCHRP Report 350, TL 3) for a fully redirective, non-gating, energy absorbing terminal.
INTERCHANGEABLE PARTS
X-Tension™ parts may be used interchangeably for median, flared and tangent applications, thus offering significant savings in inventory, repair and maintenance costs. These parts are compatible with standard highway rails, and both steel and wood post options are available.
